SPOA exists as our own, and probably the first,
desperate single Otaku support group. Essentially, this really only applies
to single MALE otaku, since there are no real single female otaku (see
the "Comments on the SPOA condition" section of our Commentary page for
more on this topic). We would be most pleased should some female
otaku decide to prove us wrong, but none of us anticipate this happening
anytime soon. We exist to provide a definitive view of anime from
a distinctly desperate male otaku point of view. We are all proud
to be SPOA, and we gather around a common interest, support each other
in our various endeavours, and generally provide ourselves with comraderie.
What it boils down to is an unofficial anime club.
Our club motto: We are the only club you join in order
to later leave.
Of course we are very happy to accept new members,
but we are even happier to see members go. Course, generally, once
a SPOA, always a SPOA. Let's face it, that's why we are SPOA.
We're all honorary members, since most of us anticipate that we always
return to a single status at some point in our lives. But we never
give up hope.
